I'm working on my British accent. I'm focused on the accent from London. I live in the USA and am not planning on moving to the UK any time soon. Anyone have videos, sources, and a paragraph and different things they say and how to say it? The most you can get for me is the best. Thank you!

There is no London accent and everyone is going to make fun of you if you even try to speak with a British accent if you are american. Look at the grilling Madonna got when she tried to speak with a British accent. She sounded like a complete tw*t.

It is difficult to say some accent is specific from London, because London is a melting pot of different cultures, and also each little region has its specific slang.

I think you should not worry about that, it can sound fake to locals trying to purely imitate their accent if you are american. You should accept your accent because most likely it will be very difficult to change.

But I think you should first focus on UNDERSTANDING what they say with their accent, because that can be difficult even for English speakers.

To do so, it might be good for you to watch some british shows like "Downtown Abbey"or "The office"with the subtitles in English to get used to listening to British accent.

The best way to get a British (London) accent is to tune in to BBC Radio London where you'll hear Londoners speaking all day long - phew!

This link gets you most of our radio stations here in London.

The chances of you hearing this London accent here now is very unlikely - but was common back in the 1950s.

You're gonna look like a bit of a dick when someone asks you where you come from and you reply in your fake British accent, aren't you? Unless you lie about that too.

It is not easy to "put on" a "british" accent.

(there are hundreds of "british accents")

Even some of your best actors cannot do it.

So,please do not waste your time, you will only end up sounding silly.
