Harringay is the area in North London (ie Green Lanes). Haringey is the borough (Tottenham, Wood Green, Muswell Hill etc are in the London Borough of Haringey)
Hope this helps! - This is the right answer - its not wrong spelling
Sorry - these answers are annoying me - here's proof:

Harringay, Haringey and Hornsey all derive from the same root of haeringsay - over the centuries they've just become spelled differently
this area used to be in the County of Middlesex, but when it was swallowed up into Greater London they created the London Borough of Haringey and within that borough there are the districts of Harringay and Hornsey
if you want more information get in touch with the Hornsey Historical Society http://hornseyhistorical.awardspace.com/index.htm - if you live locally you can visit them at The Old Schoolhouse on Tottenham Lane (they've got a good range of interesting publications about the area)

None, they are both incorrect spellings of the London Borough of Harringey.
