Question:
Is it currently possible to buy a tube ticket at Victoria station?

On the national rail site it says...

"There will be no ticketing facilities within the Underground station - buy your ticket / top up your Oyster card before travelling to London."

Is this correct, or can I still buy a ticket when I arrive?

date for consideration is 19/08/11

TfL website says:

"Major escalator refurbishment is taking place at Victoria Underground station until mid January 2012. Your journey will be easier if you can avoid entering the station between 1600 - 2000 on weekdays when: Queues are likely. There will be no ticketing facilities. A one-way system will be in place, including some entrances/exits. You may be asked to wait outside the station to prevent overcrowding. Once inside the station it may take up to 15 minutes to reach your platform. To avoid this disruption start your journey at nearby St. James's Park or Pimlico stations, which are easy to reach on foot or by local bus services from Victoria. For full details of how to avoid Victoria by using alternative Tube and bus routes in London and National Rail services to/from London visit www.tfl.gov.uk/vsu "

Around the area, look out for small newsagents. There will be some which have Oyster top up facilities. Most will only take cash.

Nothing because I'm wearing these thin rayon print pants with a T-shirt that I wear as pj's & lounge wear for in-between weather. I like them, but unfortunately, they don't have any pockets. When I went outside to read the Sunday paper, I tossed on a sunhat & a loose-fitting oversize jean jacket with Kleenex & keys stuffed in the pockets. Never ever step outside without the keys.

They'll definitely be machines open.

If you want to buy before hand. Check out www.nationalrail.co.uk or www.thetrainline.com.

Hope I helped you out.
