dangerous bugs/animals in england?

hiya, so im from canada and im planning on university in england. but first i need to know if there's any poisonus/dangerous insects or animals i should be aware of? Canada has nothing dangerous insect-wise other than the brown recluse.

You will encounter bees and wasps (no surpirse there). The only poisonous creature you are even remotely likely to encounter is the adder (Vipera berus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vipera_berus). They are shy of humans, and hide when they hear a human coming. To encounter one, you would have to go to its favourite habitat and deliberately go looking for it. They have become rare in recent years and are only found in specific areas (sandy heathland). I had a job visiting a nature reserve where there were adders, once a month for six years, and saw an adder twice in that whole time.



Moreover, adder bites are not very poisonous, can be treated in every hospital, and do not endanger a healthy adult (only 14 fatalities since 1876, the last a 5-year-old child in 1975).

There's nothing that's out and out dangerous.

One poisonous snake. The Adder. Not common or aggressive and its bite won't kill a healthy adult.

A couple of spiders that will bite, but it's no worse than someone pinching your arm.

Red deer stags can be aggressive in the mating season and have attacked people that were stupid enough to walk up to them to take photos.

Bee and wasp stings can provoke anaphylactic shock if you''ve been stung before and you're really unlucky.

There's a colony of harmless introduced scorpions at Ongar Railway Station.



Nothing at all that you need to be worried about in the normal course of things.
