I'm a teenage girl who would like to leave these Unites States of America I've always lived in.. And spend a summer in London.

I'm trying to think of memorable things to do. I know about big Ben and the prime meridian, the changing of the guards and trafaigar square... But I'm looking for things like "a picture in a red phonebooth", the London eye, trying fish and chips, platform 9 3/4 (haha ohhh the POTter HEADS), and of course street performers.

Please help me find more AWESOME and "unique" things haha

please and thankssss!!! :D

Hello stukonstarbust!

Its well worth planning to do things that are roughly in the same area, this way you can spend more time enjoying yourself and less time travelling.

Below you will find a number of itineraries, i.e. activities that you can do in the same place.

WHAT TO DO IN LONDON

# Monday - Visit the South Bank: spend a day along the River Thames.

# Tuesday - The Royal, the Real, the Ritz and the Glitz: Buckingham Palace, Mayfair and Finsbury Park.

# Wednesday - London Transformed: Olympic Park and Docklands

# Thursday - Living it up in London's West End!

# Friday - Shopping in London.

# Saturday - Torture, Food and Drink.

Here are several individual suggestions....

# Camden Market

http://www.camdenlock.net/

11-6.00,Free.Tube: Camden

With the '**** you!' punk rock mentality, Camden is the epicentre of bohemian counterculture. Goths, punk, rocks, pubs, countless music venues, and loads of food..

188 Camden High St, Camden Town, Greater London NW1 8; *

# Portobello Market

http://www.portobellomarket.org/howtogetthere.htm

9-6.00,Free.Tube: Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Park

Quintessentially British, Portobello Market is located in Notting Hill, famous district where the Afro-Carribbeans mix it up with the posh white heroine chique. Expect to find antiques, knick-knacks, expensive fashion and plenty of places to eat..

325 Portobello Road, Kensington, Greater London W10 5; *

# Borough Market

http://www.boroughmarket.org.uk/page/3020/Visit+us

Thu-Sat; 11-5,Free.Tube: London Bridge

Eugenic society of vegetable lovers. Food-lovers paradise. Sucks in the highest quality food stock from all around the world, and then sells it to the highest bidders. An unbelieveable experience, whether you're looking for ingredients for a meal or you want to sample a tasty snack. Also has some rather good pubs located in its surrounds..

239 Borough High Street, Camberwell, Greater London SE1 1; *

# Columbia Road Flower Market

http://columbiaroad.info/

Sun, 8-3.00,Free.Tube: Hoxton Train Station

The most enchanting and beautiful markets, every Sunday morning mind, so you'll have to be up early. Listen to the cheeky cockney banter of the vendors, keen to shift their stock and get back home, and then later go for a coffee in one of the many coffee houses dotted around..

3 Ezra St, Londres E2 7RH; *

# Olympic Park Viewing Spot

9-5.00,Free.Tube: Pudding Mill Lane

London is sizing up to be hosts for the 2012 Olympics - you can watch the Olympic site in transition from a viewing spot and café located in what seems the middle of knowhere (East London)..

The Greenway, Marshgate Lane, Stratford, Greater London E15 2PJ; *

# British Museum

10-5.30,Free.Tube: Russel Square, Holborn, Tottenham Court Road, Goodge Street

Come and see our loot! Yes, we most likely stole it from your country, so you have to come across to London and pay for it. So come, with gritted teeth, and see your country's heritage displayed amongst many others. Old temples, mummies, Pharoah, manuscripts, its all here....

Great Russell St, City of London WC1B 3DG; 020 7323 8000

# Regent's Park

5am onwards,Free.Tube: Regent's Park, Baker Street

London's most ornate and beautiful park is well worth a wonder around. It’s simply a delight..

London; *

# Hampstead Heath

http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/LGNL_Services/Environment_and_planning/Parks_and_open_spaces/Hampstead_Heath/Visitor+information+and+map.htm

0,Free.Tube: Hampstead, Hampstead Heath, Gospel Oak

Hampstead Heath is an old ancient heath siding up next to the equally old village of Hampstead, which is now engulfed by London, but has still managed to maintian its Dickensian, Victorian feel. The Heath is a wonder, expansive, hilly, grassy, simply beautiful. Come here to experience London life slowed down....

London; *

# Tate Modern

10-6.00,Free*.Tube: London Bridge; Waterloo; Southwark

It is possibly the place to go to, if you have any time free in London. Situated in the old coal factory on the South Bank it hosts some incredible exhibitions, the most striking of which is always located in the museum's huge turbine hall. And when I say huge I mean huge. Well worth a visit, and I'd check the book shop out too..

Bankside, London SE1; 020 7887 8888

Take a ride on a duck (I haven't yet, but family have and it was great fun).

For Fish and Chips, in the West End go to the Rock and Sole Plaice in Endell Street. I live in London and don't have any good fish & chips near me, so when in town I treat myself occasionally.

Check out the Shady Old Lady website for lots of quirky things to see such as the Lamp on Farting Lane which used to be powered by sewer gas. (sadly the lane is now called Carting Lane and the lamp runs on normal gas). And find the Thin House in Kensington and the smallest house in Marble Arch and the Water Clock in Covent Garden. (just use the search facility on the Shady Old Lady Website to find these and many more).
