The BBC has a good website for what's on at www.bbc.co.uk/whereilive, including what's on in London in the Entertainment section.

There is a chain of Pubs owned and operated by Whetherspoons. Most of them are child friendly. A few a child friendly up until certain hours. You can always go inside and ask at the bar if they let children in. They are often very helpful when asking. My husband used to be in this situation when he was little. His mom used make him wait outside until she asked at the bar.
You can always buy a bottle of water at any corner shop. So there is no problem there. If you are looking for a fabulous market try Camden. It is definately an experience and has so much to see and stalls to buy from. (Just keep the kids close). A pint of beer can cost you from £2 to about £3.50 again- depending on where you go. As for tipping, my husband is British and stringent about tipping. He only tips if the service is good. No need to tip in places like Pizza Hut or pubs really. But if you choose to go to a proper restaraunt, minimun 10% to 15%. If you want to know what kind of bands might be playing check out www.ticketmaster.co.uk
Don't worry about bringing your own water unless you want to carry a bottle of water with you- the water purity is fine in London. I tip about 15-20% depending on the service, and the cost of the pint will just depend on where you buy it and what type of beer you get.
You'll have a great time. You can't go wrong.

There are many things to do in London! You might think your child might not be interested in museums, but I'm sure he/she will be; they are very exciting. Palaces are a must: Buckingham if you can and Kensington is nice too. The London Eye is very child-friendly and fun for you, too. The Aquarium is a must. Big Ben. Everything! Bringing your own water is not necessary unless you do not want to buy it there.

you need to get time out magazine to answer all these queries! for flea markets look at http://www.timeout.com/london/features/162.html (my personal fave being borough (for food) and spitalfields (for clothes)). pint of beer about £2.50. tap water safe to drink. tipping - not as frequently as US, not in bars, but always in restos (around 10-15% but watch out it could be added on your bill anyways). there are definetly child friendly pubs and there's bound to be blues playing somewhere in london - work out first which bits of london you're staying in then check the listings on the time out website. :)
